What does a Family Will (Single Will for Lone Parents) provide?

The Will provides for everything to pass to your children in equal shares. If the children are still infants two executors will be appointed to administer the estate and look after the assets for the children until they come of age. We can also include the appointment of guardians and your funeral wishes.

Powells can prepare a straightforward Family Will as outlined for a fixed fee.

For whom are they suitable?

• A single parent living in England or Wales who wishes to provide for his/her children
• A divorced or divorcing parent/widow or widower who wishes solely to provide for his/her children

For whom might they not be suitable?

• People not living in England or Wales
• People with foreign assets or having interests in family businesses or partnerships
• Parents of children with special needs
• Single parents who have married/remarried or are living with a partner

What is included in the Fixed Fee?

You will be required to complete a short questionnaire to enable us to draft the Will.

The fixed fee includes:

• Preparing the draft Will;
• explaining its effect;
• making any minor amendments;
• providing the final copy for signature;
• ensuring the Will is properly signed;
• retaining the original (if you wish) in safe custody for you in our purpose built strong room and providing you with a photocopy.

The fixed fee is not appropriate if your circumstances are not straightforward or if you require advice or guidance to cater for specific circumstances. Why pay a Fixed Fee?

By paying a fixed fee at the start of your case you have certainty about the costs involved. The alternative is to pay an hourly rate (£220 plus VAT) for the time your solicitor spends on your case.
