What is an Advance Directive (Living Will)?

It is a legal document which will take effect should you become unable to communicate your wishes about medical treatment for yourself and therefore no longer take part in decisions about it. It sets out your clear decisions about future medical treatment, usually a refusal or rejection of all or some specific treatment.

Powells can prepare an Advance Directive / Living Will for a fixed fee.

What is included in the Fixed Fee?

The fixed fee assumes that you have given some prior thought to your wishes and may have discussed the issue with your Doctor.

You will be required to complete a short questionnaire to enable us to draft the document.

The fixed fee includes:

• Preparing the draft document;
• Explaining its effect;
• Making any minor amendments;
• Providing the final copy for signature.

The fixed fee is not appropriate where you have not formed any clear views as to future medical treatment or the matters that you wish to include are outside our standard template. Why pay a Fixed Fee?

By paying a fixed fee at the start of your case you have certainty about the costs involved. The alternative is to pay an hourly rate (£220 plus VAT) for the time your solicitor spends on your case.
