The Law Society’s Conveyancing Quality Scheme
Powells was the first firm in Weston super Mare to secure membership of the Law Society’s Conveyancing Quality Scheme – the mark of excellence for the home buying process. For more information on the Law Society’s Conveyancing Quality Scheme visit www.lawsociety.org.uk/cqs
We underwent rigorous assessment by the Law Society in order to secure CQS status, which marks the firm out as meeting high standards in the residential conveyancing process. We appreciate that moving homes is one of the most important transactions that anyone will make in their lifetime, so it is essential that it is done to the highest standard by a solicitor. There are many different conveyancing service providers out there, making it difficult for home buyers to identify those who can ensure a safe and efficient level of service. The CQS standard is supported by the Council of Mortgage Lenders, the Building Societies Association, the Legal Ombudsman and the Association of British Insurers.
Our Service
We offer a bespoke conveyancing service tailored to each individual sale and purchase.
A qualified conveyancer will have conduct of your sale or purchase from beginning to end and will be directly contactable by direct line or email. In the event that you are not able to speak with the person dealing with your matter their designated secretary will be available. This personal service is not as expensive as you may think and we would be delighted to provide you with no obligation estimate for your house or flat sale or purchase.
We can also help you to budget by quantifying major expenses, such as the estate agents' commission on the sale, usually at about 1½ % of the sale price, and Stamp Duty Land Tax on the purchase, payable at 1%, 3%, 4% or 5% dependent on the value on all purchases over £125,000.00.
